Alison Grabell focuses her practice of law on trademarks, copyrights and related intellectual property matters. After twenty years associated with and as a partner at various local and national law firms in Los Angeles, Ms. Grabell established her own practice, MarkStar®, in February 2017. She concentrates on U.S. and international trademark prosecution; copyright prosecution; intellectual property licensing; enforcement and defense of intellectual property rights, including ex parte and inter partes practice before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board of the United States Patent and Trademark Office; and intellectual property asset sales and acquisitions. Alison maintains long-standing relationships with legal counsel worldwide to assist clients with international intellectual property protection and enforcement. Alison counsels clients in established, growing and young businesses across a wide spectrum of industries. She focuses on educating and advising clients about opportunities to develop, enhance and protect their intellectual property portfolios as valuable business assets.Her strategic advice assists clients in positioning themselves to maximize exploitation and protection of their IP assets. Alison has received recognition as a SuperLawyer® and also as a leading IP attorney in Los Angeles and among women lawyers, including one of forty “Angelenos to Know in Intellectual Property Law” in Who’s Who in L.A. Law, published by the Los Angeles Business Journal. Alison’s practice is grounded in her academic and professional experience in international relations. Alison represented the United States abroad as a member of the diplomatic corps, participated as a volunteer in the Protocol Office at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics and served as Editor-in-Chief of her law schools international law journal.
